Library supporters worldwide!

The Observer Ethical Award  for travel went to READ Global  –a company which has established 67 community libraries in Nepal. It is not a matter of just giving books. The communities have to submit a proposal, buy the land and put in 10% of the cost themselves. Alongside each library, a local business is seeded to sustain and support it. Then books and a building are brought in. During the 13 year civil war not one of these libraries was touched.  How’s that for joined-up thinking!  Congratulations to the founder Dr. Toni Neubauer.

An inspiring story. Thanks for putting this on the HLAG site. I would otherwise never have known about it.
